ABOUT US

Millennium Energy is a privately owned, independent exploration and production (E&P) company concentrating on conventional and unconventional crude oil and natural gas in the Appalachian Basin.  We are a self-sufficient company in which all the work is completed “in-house,” from lease acquisitions to the maintenance of our producing wells.  This strategy not only benefits us financially, but also enhances our community relationships as well.  Having deep, family roots in the area and respecting the rights and desires of surface owners and mineral rights owners help us to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships.

Millennium Energy LLC was formed in 1999 by Bill Zickefoose.  At that time Bill was managing two other oil and gas companies with his father, Rox Zickefoose.  The companies, Z Oil Company LLC and RL & WF Zickefoose LLC are now affiliated with Millennium and are still under the direction of Bill.  These companies contain assets that have been part of the family business since the early 1900s, when Bill's grandfather first started in the oil and gas industry in Ritchie County.  Bill is also the president of Gas and Oil Inc.

Company History

Millennium Energy and its affiliates have their origins in the very early 1900’s when a young Frank Zickefoose left the family farm to work in the oil field.  He began as a roustabout and soon after started a standard rig - building business.  Once he gained more experience and knowledge, Frank drilled his own wells and tended them. The family Homeplace is the site of two of his earlier wells and they are still great Injun Sand producers.

In the early 1950's, Frank formed a partnership with his nephew, Loris Swadley, who was assembling a fleet of spudders – soon to be gone were those standard rigs, both wooden and steel, giving way to the mighty portable Bucyrus 36’s.  Together Frank and Loris drilled new wells and continued to grow their business.  Frank also worked with his two brothers-in-law, Ed and Ted Moyers, and in the mid 1950's they began using an "infant new technology" called fracking, which utilized 100 bbl of crude oil or kerosene in an open - hole completion.  The results were amazing for those days compared to previous methods of nitroglycerine “shooting."  Today, technology continues to improve and current methods of fracking are vastly more complex and efficient.

Frank's son, Rox, and grandson, Bill, became involved in the family business as well.  Rox and Bill continued to manage the wells Frank and Loris drilled while adding their own wells and amassing additional acreage.  Bill operates the businesses today as owner, along with a dedicated and experienced team.
